Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad 2007 |

The first Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad was held on January 18, 2008 in the Curzon Hall of the Dhaka University. It consisted of a test of a duration of 1-hour, with structured questions based on the HSC and A-level syllabus. It was open to only students enrolled in the HSC or A-level classes in schools and colleges of Bangladesh. 327 students from about 50 different institutions of the country participated in the Olympiad. Nibirh Jawad of the Notre Dame College Dhaka came out first in the competition. The first ten winners were awarded prizes, and certificates were given to each participant. Professor M. Shamsher Ali, President of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, gave away prizes to the winners and certificates to the participants. |

Bangladesh Chemical Society plans to hold the next Olympiad in October/November of the current year. It will be held simultaneously in the major cities of the country. |
